Paul Hlad is a litigation attorney with a broad range of trial experience. Since 2002, Mr. Hlad has focused his practice on general litigation defense work. That work encompasses commercial, medical/professional malpractice, products liability, premises liability, fraud and construction defense work. Mr. Hlad has represented clients in a wide range of disputes encompassing professional, business and commercial litigation.

Mr. Hlad started practicing in a small boutique law firm that performed only medical and legal malpractice defense services in 2002. In 2005, Mr. Hlad began work with the regional defense firm of McAngus, Goudelock & Courie before coming to work with Hall, Rodgers & Gaylord. His experience includes trials and arbitrations throughout counties in North Carolina and Federal Court. Trials have included seven figure exposure professional malpractice, products/premises liability claims to low exposure motor vehicle accidents. Mr. Hlad has also lectured on a range on insurance defense topics throughout the Southeastern United States on issues including premises liability, products liability, sovereign immunity, bad faith/extra-contractual claims, construction, ethics and negligence principles.

Mr. Hlad received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2002. While in law school, he and another law student started an online automobile resale company that is still being operated today. His undergraduate degree was from the University of Florida in Finance and Risk Management with Honors in 1997. He is a member of North Carolina Bar Association and also a member of the Wake County Bar Association, the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, and the Defense Research Institute.

In his free time, Paul enjoys spending time with his family, trying to stay in shape and watching "the ole Gators play." Paul is married with one son. His wife, Lesley is a physical therapist in Chapel Hill. They are also active in their local community church.
